December 2009

We are here since Friday morning. As usual it’s nice to be here and uncomfortable with certain things too. The travel wasn’t pleasant, before check in we had a relaxing time at lounge in airport, that was the only comfy time I could remember, could not sleep even for a minute during flight.

Ambuli slept for around 1 hour since takeoff, the front rows   with 2 set of parents. Without any belief I requested a bassinet for her, the reply was, bassinets are only for infants within 7 months. Am not sure if this is the case for long distance flights too or what is the case in other airlines. But see they were not able to offer bassinet for a 6 month old baby even, they had forgotten to load it. I was very unhappy bcoz they did not even know whether a bassinet is there or not, they searched for long time and finally apologized to those couple. Other two babies also had a good sleep since take-off. It’s absolute trouble to handle food and a sleeping baby in flight, all 6 of us had to go through it, husbands got the first chance to eat with two set of plates in their tray, then juggle between finished plates, sleeping baby and transfer of fresh plate to wife.

I read their ad of sky nanny and believed I will have one for my rescue when needed, but wise DD told me,never believe them, you are sure to get an answer as not for this flight or not for this sector, blah, blah, oops and I received the same answer, not for this sector, only if the travel time is more than 8 hrs. I felt lucky that it’s only a short flight, and I was waiting for the travel to get over.

Had a good sleep reaching home.  We tried one from our list in evening; it’s the two wheeler ride. Ambuli rejected to sit in between us and cried like anything, she was too scared to see her dad in helmet.

She was bouncing all through the way. She enjoyed Marundeeswarar temple in thiruvanmiyur, she saw too many people, dogs, and cows and there were some musical instruments being played, she loved it. Way back home also she feared the bike, but since she was too tired slept on the way.

Next few days were shopping with my mother, and she enjoyed auto. We had been to Nalli and Rmkv for her dresses, she cried like anything for the balloons setup for Christmas in Rmkv and even the sales man were helpless as they cannot remove those balloons, I tried diverting her but no luck, She turned my chin and pointed towards those balloons.

As usual traffic sucks in Chennai, seems that lot more cars than before every time we come. Mosquitoes are posing a greater threat to ambuli , she got bigger wounds from bites that we scared, if it would be anything else, but her doctor confirmed that its classical mosquito bite and every year she is seeing few hundred cases like this, in  babies coming from abroad, she also added if you are here for 3 months she will get used to it, poor baby,I curse those mercy less mosquitoes.

Ambuli is having good time with all the folks around here, and we too are enjoying. Now AC bus, beach and maadi rail are pending, new addition in the list is book fair, I wish I could go or that.

More posts on AH,mottai and kaadhu kuthal later, and wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We are getting ready for the trip and DD took out our passports for early check-in.Whenever i see my passport,i will remenber this incident and will have a good laugh.

It was when i was in Singapore,i went there on a business visa and got extention stamp after a month(It was a three month multiple entry visa).

I had given it to our company’s auditor office for stamping, while collecting back, the lady asked me if had been to UK on business visa,i answered her yes,she went on telling me that there was entry stamping in heathrow airport,in and out stamps in chennai airport but no return stamping done @ UK,passport is such an important document and how come i missed this return stamp alone.

I was worried like anything, what happened to my return stamping?? I tried to recollect that day of return,i entered UK in London and left via Glasgow airport,am always good in memory of unwanted things and remembered the day very well,it was raining right from the morning on that Sunday,my cab was 15 mins earlier than i had asked for,it rained all the way to airport,i remebered check in,the lady @ counter tagged my baggage as heavy with a orange tag as it was 27kgs,my fellow colleague had checked in already and he was enjoying some snack in BK,i could recollect those damn costly duty free shops, easter eggs for sale, two brand new cars as gift as part of duty free promotion,a perfume bought @ Boots, those sharp knives, scissors, pins etc removed from others baggage during security screening, two maamis in the`waiting area, but this damn thing of a immigration routine alone was not coming to my mind.

After coming back to office,i asked few,but honestly they had no idea. This was bothering me for some time,i feared as if they would deny my UK visa in future, and stupid enough to search each n every page of passport again and again, had it disappeared in air,had i swallowed tat stamping alone, was the immigration officer my enemy in previous life and felt not to do the stamping,or i missed out the immigration routine itself and was sulking to myself.Sigh,Why it had happened to me??

Few days later,i inquired one friend in UK,who brought me peace,he said there is no such thing called a return stamping in UK,not only UK in few european countries as well.

Oops, how ignorant was i then.I felt ashamed for not knowing the fact and a great relief on the other side,i can travel to UK not fearing this return stamp.

We are going on vacation to India today.Purpose of vacation are Ayusha homam, head shaving and ear boring.DD planned to be back after 15 days and am going to be there till Jan 22,so its short of 3 days for a month’s vacation.

I guess i will be able to do some posts from there.Nothing else is planned other than Ayusha homam and a trip to Tiruchendur for head shaving.

Ayusha homam is going to be tough i guess, not to mention the rest head shaving and ear boring.Ambuli has too much of resistance,i just cant imagine how she will react for all these. After mottai and thodu she is going to get a different look.

She can muse herself with her favorites, coconut trees and crows.Since she had started dancing even when i say”tin tana tin”,DD expects her to dance for auto, car horns as well.We wish to take her in Electric train(parakkum train esp),AC bus and of course the national vehicle auto, should try a two wheeler ride with her, cotton candies, kamarcut, dakshin chitra is inthe list, lively thenga maanga pattani sundal beach, the dust and the rest….the list goes endless, should make a good time for her in India.A trip back home brings in a to do list and unexplainable happiness.Hope we enjoy.

Will post you on updates from India.
